Need - Greed

Two words which we as a human have failed to understand are Less and More. There is a one set of people who thinks “More is Less", many of us are fit in that category and there is this other set of people who believes “Less is More”, again  many of us are forced into this category. Instead of understanding Less and More our life always flips between these two paradoxes.

When recession hits the nation “Less Is More” is the way of life and when Greed hits a person “More Is Less” becomes nature. Less and More are always in context of something. Context varies from person to person. For few, context is “Others” in lieu of "Need”. When context shifts from “Need” to “Other” result is “Greed”.

Corruption is byproduct when context shifts from “Need” to “Other”. This corruption is not only monetary but it also represents moral and morale bankruptcy. Classic example of this can be where few months back our planning commission headed by PM had said Rs 32 a day is poverty line and in governance of same PM salary of Indian parliamentarian’s increased by 200% in addition to hefty perks and benefits. In addition to that, scams which are adding to their numbers of earnings are endless.

Context “Other” has different impact too. Other day, I was talking to one of my friend who feels why in the world we are competitive and in the rat race of achievements.  In my opinion, his question reflected 2 aspects of his personalities:

1. His context of Less and More is “Other”.
2. This shift in context gave him feeling of looser.

Competitions and challenges have only helped human being to reach at the present level of advancement so I’m in no denial of competition. It is mandatory element for evolution however in my opinion it should be with self (with my needs) and not others.  I know where I’m, I know my capabilities and I know where I want to be so I have knowledge of “Current State”, “Capability assessment” and “Future State” and now all I need is “Action” from my side.

When my context will be what “Others” are doing, my strategy will be focused on how they are making their lines bigger and how can I cut on their pie. “Other” adds to More stress and Less to Visibility, “Need” shows more visibility and less of stress. Knowledge of “Others” is good but sole focus on “Others” is not a winning strategy as at the end of day you will be evaluated as Individual 1^st and later comparisons will take place.

Lately, met many people who let go off their dreams for the sake of others.  It’s a good as well as bad sign. I won’t analyze this aspect as it has emotions involved in this. All I would say is:

               “Never let go your dreams. If loved ones understand you, they will stand right behind you for your dreams and of course you too would respect their dreams too or you never know both of your dreams will become one and same.”
